This is an appreciation post! This is our 5th year working with Northern Rivers to get the children living there Christmas Gifts. The children who live there are either there short term receiving treatment or they are there long term because they are not able to be placed in a foster home.
There are currently 23 children living at Northern Rivers (5 Girls, 18 Boys). We received 21 of the 23 gifts, along with $750 in donations. We used some of the donated funds to purchase a Barbie Dream House (on Black Friday sale- yay!) And a nicely framed KC Chiefs poster.
The "stocking stuffers" have a huge range this year because we decides to do a lot of shopping at BJs figuring a lot of big pack items can be broken up and given out that way. We wound up getting things like socks, sweatshirts, large package of face clothes, soap, deodorant, art supplies, packs of journals, gum & candy, slime packs. The rest of the little toys and odds and ends we got from $5 Below. Mostly themed things we saw that we knew the kids on this list were interested in.
At first I was a little unsure of getting things like hygiene items, but after I had asked I was told that they really appreciate those items (we all know how expensive those items can be). So, I'm glad we went ahead with those items.
Thank you to every single person who contributed to getting a child their desired gift or for donating financially so we could either get a desired gift or towards "stocking stuffers".
We could not do this without you!
